Reflections and well-deserved thank-yous.

My Valentine's Day rant transcends Valentine's Day! Take that, biznatches!

Well...ranting is a bit of an overstatement. I suppose I'm supposed to be the usual bitter singleton, but really, isn't that passe?

Yes, the holiday is an excuse for people to act like self-centered pricks the rest of the year, in the service of a society that's foolishly condemned emotional display as weakness. (heaven only knows why: any of you have any ideas?). And yes, some coupled assholes can really try and make you feel miserable about being single...but they can only do it if you let them. And I refuse.

I have a lot to be happy about. I may be unattached and have shockingly bad luck on dates, but I'm well-liked, and even loved, by a frankly shocking array of adorable, lovely, and close lady friends, who know me well and yet appear to still be around. Surely they can't all be madwomen. Maybe just skloak....just kidding, Tay. Don't send anyone after me. :)

Kidding aside....if you ladies are mad, I'll take madness over sanity any day, and I love every last one of you. You're all to be thanked right now for teaching me a very important lesson.

No, not that one.

Love thyself. All else shall follow.

alexsisrose, catrionnarain, elskatt, euph0ra, nwalya, silenthunter, skloak, Tara (whose lack of a convenient link should really be corrected. :D) and Julia, if and when she reads this....thank you all, every last one of you. For beating it into my head that I wasn't unattractive, wasn't unlovable, wasn't even unfuckable. Just unlucky. :P

You are all my Valentines, my Kallisti, my prettiest ones, and I hope yesterday was as good a day as you all deserved.

Je t'adore, mon cheri.
"When I am with you, we stay up all night.
When you are not here, I can't go to sleep.

Praise God for these two insomnias!
And the difference between them."

-Rumi, a sufi poet.

I came across this quatrain in my favorite book. (Cyn can often be found reading it actually :P) Fitting no?

Mon cher, I'm pretty sure. But why ruin it?
Fitting yes, very much so.

And yes, I knew about Cyn's Rumi fetish. :) Though now I'm even more determined to actually read some of his work at some point. Those Sufis have some...interesting ideas.

Though researching them while sleep-deprived will likely just make them make even less sense.

Re: Mon cher, I'm pretty sure. But why ruin it?
Well, a book by an Iranian poet might actually draw undue attention from Homeland Security. :P

Joe brought me a carnation (he remembered I don't like roses) and a card. Nobody listens to me when I say orchids, do they? I've been going on about orchids for the past several years, and I never get any. Nice, simple, clean white orchids.

Ah well, maybe someday.

Maybe someday's come again?

On the bright side, least he's trying.

Any mail yet?
I did actually send something - last Thursday or Friday - hoping it would arrive somewhere near on time. Let me know if it doesn't get there tomorrow and I'll call them. I guess if it was from me you'd expect it to be late. And no - it's not from EBAY.

You keep telling yourself that, C. I'm still trying to convince myself that all women are evil succubi whores and I should be thankful to never have known their sweet, sweet embrace.

Greetings. I am a visitor from the future. I have travelled back in time to see this entry, and am surprised by the awwwwww factor displayed here. Seriously, awwwww. This is so much better than either ends of the "happy hallmark" and "I hate VD" spectrum. This is a loving, sweet, entry and I'm glad to see you haven't changed in a year.
