Nerve Centre

The blinking green mind-lights,
and the low, unceasing hum,
Of routers sending data on.
The EKG of the modern age.
Watch the engineer at work,
Elbow-deep in cabling.

Then turn your head and envision
An infintesimal surgeon
On the world's largest brain.
Connecting cell to cell to cell,
Into a vastly greater whole,
Infused with the spark of potential.

Then wonder where the line has gone,
Between life and machine.
The mechanical becomes organic,
And the network awakes.
Will we have been in its dream?

Well done! Out of interest, seen any Serial Experiments Lain lately? [your poem could basically sum up the whole series]

No, I haven't. Yes, I know you've offered it to me about six hundred million times at last count. :D

Now there's something that I thought I would never see, network-cable poetry! Well-written though.
