Doing my part...

Got this email from Chris this afternoon. I am intrigued. I'd heard about Video Games Live (and am just now recognising that YouTube link that opendestiny sent me a few weeks ago), but did not know it was supposed to come here. As an afficionado of good game music, I definitely hope to see it somewhere like the Winspear or the Jubilee. But there's a lot of TBA involved right now, so who can tell?

This looks to be bloody epic. Imagine music from Mario, Metal Gear, Zelda, Final Fantasy, and a bunch of golden oldie arcade games being belted out by a full orchestra along with synchronized lasershows, game footage, and live action. Like I said: Epic. And the best part? Click the tour dates.

That's right. It's coming here.

Boys and girls, start squirreling away whatever spare cash you have: the moment tickets are available I want the lot of us to be storming Ticketmaster like a team of fanatic ninja commandos. If the stars shine right hopefully we can all go to this en masse and enjoy the magic together as one big happy geek get-together.

Spread the word, let your other friends know about this. Because this is an opportunity that can't be allowed to pass by.

Chris "I Love It When A Plan Comes Together" Jarvis

I clearly know too many Chrises and not enough last names.

But, man, I do love a good orchestra, so you can (barring other conflicts) count me in!

You presumably met him at my birthday party last year.

I had read the connection once I saw that you also got the e-mail. Still. Too many Chrises.

Eh, I donno. On one hand, Jarvis is indeed correct - it'd be totally epic. On the other hand, I've heard horror stories about the audience mistaking it for a Disaster Area concert or anime convention, what with the cosplaying and the shouting of "WHOOOOOOOO PLAY TIFA'S THEME" at the top of their lungs thereby drowning out the orchestra itself and such.

Although, having said that, I checked out the site and the prospect of hearing God of War's soundtrack live would be totally goddamn awesome. We'll see :p
