Because it can't rain all the time...

Things are actually starting out pretty well in school. I can't remember the last time I was this enthusiastic about my classes. This bodes well. I would really prefer to finish my degree this year, for one thing.

My loan got approved the day after I bitched that it hadn't been, I frankly adore my classes, even if it looks like my POL S 332 classmates are going to end up hating me for being a know-it-all. At least I sit in the front row so they can't see the gigantic shit-eating grin I was wearing through the entire lecture. This is going to be so much fun! I've been watching US politics for the past several years just for the sheer freak-show appeal of it all, and now I get course credit for it. I should really have read the books we're going to do in POL S 210 (political philosophy) already, but the class will give me an excuse, and the prof is...interesting.

The first POL S 220 lecture was basically "here's your syllabus, now go home", so I can't say much about it until tomorrow. I haven't been to the WRITE 294 class yet - first lecture is on Monday evening. Looking forward to that too. RELIG 274 was all right, though I'm going to hate commuting home after it. At least I can arrange DATS trips, which should cut down on the time. The professor wasn't as notably batshit as might have been expected for someone teaching a course like this, and actually seems to plan to be academic about it. I am intrigued.

The Unreal Tournament Revival continues apace. Unfortunately, andur has been introduced to the dynamic. This means he wins. Period. Though not until showing just enough weaknesses to look like maybe I'll pull a match out, before busting out a Rampage spree or doing some spectacular trick with the Redeemer to just break the spirits of everyone else involved. I suppose getting your ass kicked is how you learn. celarus and I are hoping to get a bunch of people together for an old-fashioned bar trip this weekend. Might as well get a good start on the year, and all. :)

Still, aside from some personal drama that I'm going to try my best not to dwell on (ha!), life's pretty good. Now if only the weather would cool off. Just a little. Please?

you realise that if it snows within the next couple of days, or hits anything below 10 degrees, i'm holding you personally responsible?

You're probably safe. With my luck, it'll be 35 degrees tomorrow merely to punish my impertinence.

US politics would amuse me greatly, if they weren't so scary. Though I am looking forward to the debate between bush and the President of Iran, I vote for Iran to be the winner (though bush will likely nuke Iran in response to losing the debate).

And just wait until I get back into practice at Unreal Tournament! Its all about knowing that sweet route through the level gathering all of the power-ups, just as they respawn.

Heh. I was looking for an excuse to post this Onion article. How kind of you to provide one.

I am indeed. Which books do you have for 210 and 220, and how much do you want for them?

I am going to be the same way in Genet 390 (techniques in molecular genetics). That's okay, because I NEVER get to be like that in any other classes. So, yay for enjoying classes!
