A Failure To Communicate

As soon as she walked away to settle into her cube, I had to fight the urge to beat my head repeatedly against the desk at the sheer number of conversational openings I had missed in a moment's worth of start-of-shift chatter.

I'm normally better than this. I must have used them all making sotto voce snarks in today's Political Philosophy class. Incidentally, you know you've been in college too bloody long when the girl snickering at your jokes in the next seat turns out to have been one of your younger sister's best friends in middle school.
