Once More Into The Breach

Let's not fuck this up now. One more semester and then I'm done.

My schedule is rather unbalanced. Mondays and Fridays I don't have class until 1, and only the one. Tuesday through Thursday I have class from 9/9:30 AM until 2PM. Nothing so drastic, except it means I actually have to wake up early. This morning it was still dark when I left. I'd forgotten what that felt like.

We shan't mention my Tuesday evening class. I'm hoping that if I forget about it it'll go away. Out at 9:30 tonight, and I haven't arranged for DATS yet (plus, the last time I had them pick me up from Humanities turned into a debacle when they somehow failed to find their own designated pickup zone, so my hopes are not high). Sigh. Rant. Rave. Maybe he'll let us out early for the first day. On the bright side, it's the fiction writing seminar, so I'm actually kind of looking forward to it.

On that note, I got back home Friday to find an ICQ message waiting for me from someone who'd read my old BG2 fanfics and wanted to compliment me on them. That was certainly a pleasant surprise. Hopefully I haven't gotten too rusty.

How does that DATS stuff work? Do they only operate in/around the University, or only for students? Do you pay for it? I've always been curious, having seen them around all over campus for years.

They're actually an ETS service for the disabled. You have to go through a fairly involved registration process, and whenever you want to use them you have to book a day or two in advance, but they'll come to and take you to any location within the city limits, as long as you don't mind delays to pick up other people. :D

They charge standard ETS rates, but for some reason don't accept standard ETS monthly passes - they have their own special pass, which is a) sold in vastly fewer locations, and b) not subject to the usual post-secondary discount.

No I don't get it either. I'm settling for being happy sbout not having to cab home every week.
