He May Be A Communist

A lesser man would have been disappointed by last night's turnout, but, quite frankly, if it hadn't been my own party I wouldn't have gone either. The weather was hideous and ETS, as usual, was full of fail. Thanks to vlosk, Blogless Jen, and doctorcomputer for coming out. As it turns out, I'm here for another week anyway, so I may manage to see some of the rest of you regardless.

I have no freaking clue why I'm awake this early (8 AM when I started writing), however, but I may as well tend to my poor, neglected journal while I am.

Stardust, which I saw last weekend, was a delight. I wasn't entirely happy with the ending (which was far less happy in the book), but, as all the world knows, I'm a sucker for a love story that actually ends happily, so I didn't really complain too hard about it. I enjoyed the performances (De Niro's Captain Shakespeare rather steals the show when he's about, especially), and the little quirks of the world, and generally thought it was a fun, well-done, romantic little fairy tale. There were a bunch of previews for other fantasy movies attached to it (Golden Compass, Beowulf, The Dark Is Rising), which I see as a good sign, even if at least the last of those three looks like it will suck mightily.

Also, while I did not know they were making a sequel to Elizabeth, I will be watching it. This is not negotiable.

Also - yet another change to my plans for the move. More when I get back from Surprise Brunch Invitation.

Hey man, I had fun. Sorry I couldn't stay late, but there was plenty of Death Note packing to be done.

Sequel to Elizabeth, you say? Hmm, if they call it Elizabeth II there will be all sorts of confusion.

Which is probably why it's called "Elizabeth: The Golden Age". :P

Well, if I had known about it... I would have seriously considered going.

I made the mistake of planning to attend, which of course ensures that something came up to ruin it. :( But I was there in spirit! You did feel that cold chill of evil, didn't you?
