So. I love, love, love law school. But dear fluffy Lord, is there a lot of reading. Not that I strictly mind reading, but damn. It hasn't helped that I've only been able to start getting my textbooks late last week (a hearty fuck you to Alberta Students Finance), so I started out about a week behind, and it's only getting worse, because the bookstore is out of books for Torts and Contracts. At least I have the others sorted and am gingerly getting back on the horse.

Still, I'm definitely finding what we're learning about interesting. Though it's odd that, despite the fact that I don't want to go into criminal law, I'm actually finding my criminal class the most interesting so far. Of course, it's only a week in, and a lot of that is probably from the prof, who knows his business, is funny if a bit of a hardcase (from a "lock them up and throw away the key" perspective, not a "hey, you, answer this random-ass question from page 666 of the textbook, please?" perspective...well, maybe a bit of the latter too), and generally rocks. There are also lots of available options beyond the classroom that I'm hoping to involve myself in. If I have enough time to spare.

Socially, well, I haven't locked myself in the library or anything, and I'm getting to know some people at school and getting out with them on occasion. (Friday night, the student society is taking a cruise down the river that promises to be interesting. Or at least enjoyable.) I want to see if I can reach out past the school to do some more socialising in the city, but first I need to actually get a schedule down to keep up with my schoolwork and extracurriculars, and then see what's left of my time.

Mom is back in Edmonton until the end of the month, arranging to move the rest of our stuff. So far, I'm not dead. Shocking!

But I do need to run. Want to catch my bus at 9. Am probably already behind schedule. Again.

Awesome to hear you're enjoying it so far. Please forgive me if you've already said this umpteen times, but what kind of law are you planning on specializing in?

Ideally, either something international or something to do with tech. But we'll see!

But let me guess, you're still keeping your options open?

More like my options will be forcibly kept open for a year - my first-year program is largely chosen for me. :)

I can just see you as the next crown prosecutor for something big... and then getting fed up and threatening a witness with Tupperware ;)

Kudos though! Glad you are enjoying it!!

Why else do you think I'm trying to avoid criminal law? :P
